When she was a freshmen in 2005, she led her Portland Pilots squad to an unbeaten season that culminated with the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship. Rapinoe was able to continue her winning ways when she was a sophomore, becoming one of the country's most prolific scorers scoring 10 goals, but her season was cut short due to an ACL injury. She suffered the same injury in 2007, ending the season with only two games. Following her recovery, Rapinoe returned in 2008 and helped the Pilots to a 20-2 record.
Although she was born in Portland she lived the first five to six year of her adulthood in the small town called Boring where her family ran a bee farm although her mother was averse to bees. She also was surrounded by farm animals and farmland. Their parents divorced and moved to Montana and later Seattle where her mother changed jobs often. They did not run the bee farm long. The family moved to Minnesota where Maria went to Apple Valley High School and was a member of the award-winning forensics program as well as the National Forensic League. Her popularity in highschool was such that she was given the title of Homecoming Princess. Early years and career She went to The Juilliard School and realized her lifelong goal of appearing in the stage of a Broadway production. Maria had her first big commercial role in 1999 playing a high-school student who became friends with an excon prostitute who was a former addict. Later, she played minor characters like The Inforgetting of Sarah Marshall (accepted) and Hitch with Eva Mendes and Will Smith.
